Aurora Diner at the Steele County Free Fair, Aug. 2017 | . 135 Lutheran women from Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, and United States gathered at a retreat center in the mountains outside of Bogota to claim and celebrate the freedom that only Christ brings – the liberation from oppression that empowers us to use our gifts to lead and serve. | Kathy Chatelaine, the synod's Director for Global Mission/Companion Synods, and Rev. Stephanie Wood… in Colombia participating in the 2017 Women's Encounter. |
We had 13 kids come to Vacation Bible School and they had a blast! They learned about the Good Samaritan as they sang songs, did crafts and played games. The theme was a camping theme: Bible Camp - An Awesome Adventure with God. | Thank you to all who helped run and organize the fundraiser for the parking lot. It was our first try at operating a food truck as we served folks coming to look at classic cars. We raised a little over $600. | While the food truck fundraiser helped, we need more to finish the parking lot. If you have any ideas or are able and interested in giving a special gift to help us pay for the parking lot, please let Angie Jensen or Pastor Stephanie know. |
We hosted a gathering for small and rural congregations in the Synod as guest speaker Rev. Peter Soli led us in discussion. Ten congregations were represented! We discussed how we would describe the church in the past and present, and how we hoped it would be in the future. Towards the end of the event, Rev. Soli described a process that he and the synod are offering to congregations to evaluate and plan for the future. |
